I'm not quite sure what I think about this. The topic has been bouncing around in my head all through the afternoon. On the one hand I'm really impressed with this group of players, and I know they'll make the Jaguars better but on the flip side, I would like to see Jacksonville would spread their passion a bit more to upgrade more positions.

The major criticism is likely in the direction of Christian Kirk, I get that. The contract is in part the biggest leap of trust that he will become a featured No. 1 receiver, and also that a team as bad as Jacksonville must pay more for big-name free agent. The contract is actually very fair, and shouldn't negatively impact the team over time should the gamble not make a profit.
My concern, as it's been with Jaguars free agency in the past the issue is that they went for the quality over quantity model when this franchise really needs numbers. It's not Kirk and Scherff, but Kirk And Scherff AND Olukun AND Fatukasi, which will leave the Jaguars with around $10 million in space (give or take). I'd have loved to see the team shoot for two prospects and attempt to pick several players at the same price as the others.
In many ways it's like free agency 2017 and that's not a great thing. The Jaguars spent big there too in signing Calais Campbell, A.J. Bouye, Barry Church and traded for Branden Albert. They were at the time considered to be the "big winning team," as well. Despite the fact that it went from 3-13 to 10-6 , in the blink of an eye and then they fell on the floor because they didn't have the depth.
My wish is that this doesn't happen in the future, I'm just hoping that when the Jaguars were working to obtain this kind of cap space that they didn't become a swarm of wild horses in the belief that they're few pieces away from contending, rather than a cellar dweller that has to slowly build up their success. It's hard to say whether Jacksonville could be the winner, or even a winner -or even anxious.
