Czech World of Warcraft fans donned costumes on Saturday to make the massively popular online game to life, pushing ahead with a scaled-back festival after the coronavirus pandemic postponed the annual event earlier this season.
The yearly spring festival generally brings up to 200 fans but organisers said turnout was about 60 this year after the delay brought on by coronavirus lockdowns in Europe.
"We're just happy that this year (the festival) is occurring," said Eliska Pabl Kaplanova, one of the organisers. "So this year it is a smaller point."
The online role-playing game has become a cultural phenomenon since launching in 2004, with millions of gamers worldwide.
Jaroslav Racek, a policeman by day, said he was making his seventh trip to the Czech event and that for him it was a chance to become immersed in something different.
"There is a great group of people here," he said, dressed as a"Burning Legion" demon. "A individual can enjoy himself on the planet and not simply sit at a computer"

The system requirements for the upcoming World of Warcraft Shadowlands growth have been updated, and based on Blizzard, an SSD drive must play the growth.
The minimum and recommended system requirements for the PC and Mac version of World of Warcraft's eighth expansion, mention that a Solid State Drive (SSD) with 100GB of free space. Past expansions, including World of Warcraft latest Battle for Azeroth expansion, didn't mention an SSD as a system requirement. For reference, Battle for Azeroth requires an HDD (7200RPM) with 70GB of free space.
