A stipends is an often misspelled stipend which is a financial allowance to support living expenses of individuals, generally interns, fellows or trainees, whilst they gain experience. A stipend is very different than a salary, which is set compensation for specific job duties and is usually tied to hours worked, and generally not offered with benefits. A stipend is aimed more or less at education or development than commercial ends. The stipend recipients usually participate in research, education or training programs, with the aim of learning.
