Product Description
Chemical nameibromoneopentyl Glycol
Other name:2,2-Bis(bromomethyl)-1,3-propanediol
It is a brominated flame retardant, previously shown to be a multisite carcinogen in experimental animals. The compound is used as a fire retardant in unsaturated polyester resins, in molded products, and in rigid polyurethane foam. It shows clear evidence of carcinogenicity and genotoxicity activity.
Notes:
Reactive flame retardant for unsaturated polyesters and polyurethane rigid foams; flame retardant intermediate
Class:
Specialty Chemicals, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) Chemicals
Functions:
Intermediates, Flame Retardant
Biodegradation of dibromoneopentyl glycol by a bacterial consortium
Dibromoneopentyl glycol (DBNPG) is a brominated flame retardant that is used as an additive during the manufacture of plastic polymers and as a chemical intermediate for other flame retardants. It is classified as not readily biodegradable and based on experimental studies in animals is believed to be a carcinogen. We have demonstrated, to the best of our knowledge for the first time, the complete biodegradation of DBNPG under aerobic conditions. http://www.rixingxincai.com/br....ominated-flame-retar
