Which suitcase to choose for air travel

Material of manufacture

Suitcases are made from different types of materials. It is they that determine how long the product will last and how well it will store your things. There are four common options:

ABS plastic. It is characterized by high impact strength, resistance to mechanical loads and an affordable price. Usually it belongs to the category of budget or standard solutions. The disadvantages include rigidity. Such a suitcase holds its shape well, but under serious loads it can sag. Therefore, it is recommended to fill it completely.
Polypropylene. Belongs to the middle price range. It is characterized by resistance to impacts and deformations, is not afraid of moisture, strong heat or ultraviolet radiation. It serves for a long time, but its weight is quite large.
Polycarbonate. It is considered quite popular. It withstands mechanical loads well, is highly wear-resistant and flexible. It is not afraid of moisture, frost, ultraviolet radiation, and is lightweight, so you can take more things. At the same time, its prices are higher than those of the previous options. Polycarbonate models are suitable for those who travel a lot.
Textile. Polyester or nylon are usually used. These materials hold their shape well, withstand high loads, and are not afraid of moisture. But it is not recommended to get caught in the rain with such a suitcase, because the textile lets water through. For protection, you can use a special cover or simply wrap the product in cling film.
Suitcases are also made from other materials, but these are considered the most popular.

Wheel types

The main load when moving a travel suitcase falls on the wheels. Therefore, they need to be given more attention when choosing. There are models with both 2 and 4 wheels. The first option provides for transportation in an inclined state, with 30% of the load falling on the hand. Two-wheeled systems wear out faster due to the increased load on them, but are considered more maneuverable and passable. Four-wheeled suitcases distribute the entire load on the floor. Each wheel rotates 360 degrees, which allows you to move the product in any direction. But the passability of such models is worse - they will get stuck in holes and potholes.
