It is all about faith and however the contracts work. I would assume most of these legends have been on a single year deals and that's why we do not get them from year to year. Who knows what the actual reasons are, maybe a participant asks too much or EA is lowballing their deal about the rights. But I believe for the most part with adding players, they do a fairly solid job. I was actually super surprised and excited over the Theme Diamonds 1 and two with how many trendy players we got. But you are right, it might be good to have even more.
You are right, I don't have any doubt that licensing plays a variable, but LT and Deion Sanders are in this game EVERY year. Yes they are all-time greats and it would not be Ultimate Team with them, but my purpose is having a player year after year after year is surely possible. Furthermore, if I am not mistaken NBA 2K has countless legendary and historical players (do not play 2K this is only what I've discovered, please correct me if I'm wrong) so why is not the NFL's only match doing exactly the same thing? Perhaps their rights are lumped in together with the NFLPA or they are on 10 year deals or something. We don't know.
As for NBA, they just have the rights to any and all former players due to how the NBA participant union/group/association works, they do not need"rights" to previous players. With NFL they're separate entities and every player that is non-current is a contract that they need to have and cover out. I had been expecting the NFLPA would do something for a while today. In the absence of such an agreement I thing EA will be sensible to prepare a royalty arrangement for it is Likeness deals that ties in participant use in lineups to compensation for your player. So for instance if player x is on 75% of MUT rosters they are get a specific amount, if they are on 50% a different level, etc.. This way you could have both popular players and fan favorites from the sport every year without over or underpaying anyone.
I believe that for sure. I'm mostly a Giants fan, but due to living in Denver, I've got a soft spot for the Broncos as well and I always like to try and operate a TT with the Giants and Broncos. Notably bc in my opinion, out of the CBs, Peyton's X Factor and Elway (after he obtained the PUE), the Broncos TT sucked this year. Outside of the corners, the Giants were actually but who knows if this will occur next 24, a TT this year. I am rambling, but long story short my view is teams with madden nfl 23 coins as extensive a history as the Giants and Broncos should have sufficient legends to be aggressive TTs every year.
