Stan Kroenke has a fancy new stadium to show his other owners this week. No announcements regarding this week's Rams (or the Chargers or Raiders) moving are anticipated. It's just going to be the presentation of Madden 23 coins executive Eric Grubman followed by a discussion between the owners.
The Rams' owner clearly has a lead in the race to L.A., but the Chargers haven't made it easy for the owner to win. This is a chance to get the owners creating a plan of compromise in which everyone benefits ... all except which city loses a team.
Breakfast with the coaches
On Tuesday morning, the AFC coaches are marched to a buffet breakfast and are forced to sit down with journalists for an hour. Lights and cameras surrounding Bill Belichick's table will crowd out any poor slob sitting next to him. There's no doubt that he draws a crowd even though he's not really say anything. There will be plenty of chairs at the table of Ken Whisenhunt But Ken would likely enjoy the company. So, take your bowl of oatmeal to the table!
The NFC coaches are on the line in the morning on Wednesday. I'm hoping Chip Kelly eats beforehand, as his table will be very popular. I'm planning to go to Jim Tomsula's table since it's likely to be fun (nobody say anything about the eggs that are in his mustache).
A Nicer Football League
In the past, at these gatherings, the Madden NFL 23 were focussed on making the field a nicer place to play and work (before all the other PR crises hit). The competition committee snubbed goalspot celebrations and pledged to reduce the use of taunting and other unsportsmanlike behavior. I'm curious to hear what the results were for the players.
Personal infractions are a topic for this year too. Tennessee and Washington are seeking to make them auditable.
