One of the biggest questions going into next Saturday's game, is how will Cam Ward handle the intense home field advantage of The Swamp? It's widely known that Florida boasts one of the top stadium environments in college football, with nearly 90,000 packing Ben Hill Griffin Stadium on Gator gamedays. This will be the largest crowd that Ward has played in front of, but that's not to say he hasn't gone out before rowdy stadiums before. Cam Ward escapes a surefire sack, breaks the pocket, and creates a chunk play for Washington State's offense. He does this every week. One of the more overlooked quarterbacks in the #NFLDraft. #NFLDraft2024 Just to give you perspective, Tyler Van Dyke, on the road last season, threw for 1,103 yards, 9 touchdowns and 6 interceptions, completing 61% of his passes. The year prior in 2022, although he struggled, Ward still led Washington State into Madison, Wisconsin, and knocked off the #19 Badgers. Last season, Ward and the Cougars went a rough 1-5 on the road, but when you look at the stats, knowing what Ward was averaging through the air, it's hard to chalk those losses up to him. Ward and the offense scored 24 at Oregon and lost, 27 at Arizona State and lost, 39 at Cal and lost, then lost to Washington by just three. In those four games, Ward threw for a combined 1,424 passing yards (356 yards per game), 8 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. If you're a team that needs a quarterback in https://www.hurricanesgameday.com Day 2-3 of the draft, may I suggest Cam Ward of Washington State. He can move inside and out of the pocket, he's accurate, tough and simply fun to watch. Thankfully, and this is no disrespect to Washington State and Ward's former team, but he'll have a lot more help when he suits up for the Hurricanes on August 31at. In six road games in 2023, the Cougars offense, while proficient through the air with Ward, failed to get anything going running the ball, averaging a dismal 72.7 rushing yards per game. That's not to mention the lackluster defense that was played by Washington State in those games, either. That's how you handle pressure, Cam Ward! Nakia Watson gives Washington State the lead! That's where the luxury of having a guy like Damien Martinez is going to come in handy, a big agile back that can move the chains in the fourth quarter. I am very interested to see how Miami comes out against the Gators, especially on offense. Are they going to try and establish the run game, and get everyone on offense settled in? Or, are they going to attack right away? If I'm Shannon Dawson, I'm picking the second option. Most Read Top 25 Poll: Week 2 The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly: Florida Gators 2024 EditionMiami dominates an overmatched Florida team in the season opener AND I LOVED EVERY SECOND OF IT!!!!
